In the heart of North London next to the River Lea is our incredibly popular first opinion Tottenham practice, and they are looking for an additional RVN to join the first opinion GP team on a full-time basis.

About your new role!

​Tottenham’s popularity is increasing by the day, creating the need for an additional RVN to help support their existing team including senior RVN, trainee nurse colleagues and senior vet. While the practice itself may need some TLC in certain areas as it’s one of our originals, your incredible team more then make up for it…there is a lot to be said about having a strong and supportive team dynamic!

​You will not be bored at Tottenham with its busy caseload and large client base, and the practice has a great reputation within the group of having an amazing team dynamic and rallying together on those more challenging days, but don’t take my word for it:

​”They have been an absolute delight to work with. You have got a good team there! I will be sad to say goodbye on my last day”.

This position is full-time Monday to Friday and includes a 1:4 Saturday morning and 1:10 Sunday rotation at Wanstead Hospital, plus 1 bank holiday per year. There are NO on-call requirements for this position.

As a branch RVN some of your duties will include:

– Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care. – Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required. – Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records. – Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care. – Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients. – Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment – Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use. – Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with our suppliers to required levels as necessary. – Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training. – Provide reception duties, as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone. – Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor

This role could be ideal for a newly qualified RVN due to the support provided by your senior RVN and support team. You will also be fully supported by an incredibly experienced regional manager, whose support is invaluable to her branches in the region.

​If any of your patients require more complex surgeries or OOH care they will be referred to our flagship 24-hour hospital in Wanstead.

​Caseload at Tottenham is high with a very loyal client base, the team have worked hard to create strong bonds and are rightfully proud of this.

​The practice itself is perfectly situated if you want to travel into the hustle and bustle of central London, being just a 5-minute walk from Bruce Grove station that takes you straight into London Liverpool Street, or a 20-minute walk from Tottenham Hale station.

​If however you may want to get away from the city, Tottenham is within easy reach of Epping Forest, and popular Essex villages and towns with an array of pubs and restaurants.

VA588 – Part-time Veterinary Surgeon

If you are a vet who doesn’t want to be in the same environment all week, but also wants a consistent rota, this split role between our Acton and Uxbridge branches could tick all those boxes.

About your new role!

Uxbridge is a suburban area of West London that has history dating back to medieval times. Although Goddard Uxbridge was not established quite that far back, it has been a firm fixture in the community for many years, and they are looking for an additional GP vet on Thursdays and Fridays to support their team, working alongside a senior vet, RVN team and trainee nurses.

The practice itself is a generous size flooded with natural light, it has 3 consult rooms, and a large kennel and prep area leading into theatre.

There is plenty of on-site parking available which is a rare commodity for London sites!

In terms of location the practice is within a 15 minute walk of Uxbridge underground station on the Metropolitan line, which takes you to some of London’s best hot spots such as Kings Cross, beautiful Farringdon which has a plethora of independent bars and restaurants, and through to Liverpool Street where most other transport lines can be picked up. The Uxbridge area is an ideal location if you like the best of both, with plenty of green space to the west, then easy access into London to the east.

Now onto Acton! Acton is set in an old bank complete with original vault and is definitely a unique environment to work in, and they are looking for an additional vet on Mondays and Tuesdays.

You will be working alongside a senior vet on one of your days conducting consultations, performing routine surgeries and triaging any emergencies that may arise. You have a fantastic established nursing team including experienced RVNs for your go to support!

The practice could not have a more ideal location, being literally opposite the Acton underground station on the Elizabeth Tube Line, which takes you straight into central and east London in one direction, and through to Heathrow airport in the other for those much-needed getaways!

Your rota: Monday at Acton, Thursday and Friday (Friday being a shorter 8 hour day) at Uxbridge. The role includes a 1:3 branch Saturday in Acton and 1:8 Mandeville Hospital Sunday rotation, and up to 2 bank holidays per year.

 There are NO on-call requirements for this position.

As a branch veterinary surgeon, some of your duties will include:– Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols. – Perform GP surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care. – Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.  – Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues. – Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason. – Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment

You will also be fully supported a regional manager and regional head vet for any additional clinical and operational support you may need.

About your new role!

​The Wanstead Hospital team are looking for competent GP vets who can jump straight in with routine surgeries, including bitch spays and dentals, and be able to confidently manage emergency cases. With a high imaging caseload this would be the perfect role for a GP vet with a passion for diagnostic imaging, to either utilise their existing skills, or develop on their area of interest.

As a GP hospital vet some of your duties will include:• Ensure a high and improving standard of evidence-based clinical care at the Hospital.• Participate in the clinical consulting, medical and surgical rota for Hospital GP vets.• Ensure compliance with RCVS Codes of Conduct, Practice Standards and relevant medicines regulation within the Hospital.• Ability to work independently while recognising limitations and seeking support when required• Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.• Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.• Investigate cases fully and appropriately, using diagnostic aids such as radiography and blood testing.• Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence• Confident communicator with a client-centred approach.• Good clinical reasoning and time-management skills.• Foster a culture of excellent working relationships within the Hospital and be responsible for the achievement of high morale and a strong team spirit.

Your rota will be on a 6 weekly rotational basis made up of an average of 40 hours per week inclusive of your 1:3 Saturday and 1:6 Sunday weekend rotation. This will enable you to work within all departments of the hospital, ranging across consulting, surgery, ward and ECC. You will be rota ‘d to up to 2 bank holidays per year and be included in the last resort on-call rotation.

​Wanstead Veterinary Hospital provides an excellent first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral service to our clients and local network of 20 branches and works to the highest clinical standards. No day or caseload is the same with such a wide pool of clients and internal referrals coming through the doors.

​There is state of the art diagnostic support, with a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery all available on site.

You will be working alongside a large collaborative team consisting of approximately 25 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs and a large front of house team who are integral in maintaining excellent client care.

​You are fully supported by an established management structure including senior GP and internal medic vets, senior RVN’s, 2 deputy head nurses, head nurse, head vet and hospital manager.

​Wanstead itself is on the outskirts of urban Essex but is close enough to rural life for that countryside relief. Transport links into London do not get better than a short walk to a Central Line tube station! It is a beautiful area of London with lots of green space including the local Bluebell Woods. It also has a plethora of independent restaurants, bakeries, pubs and coffee houses to keep you busy and refreshed in your time off!

Please be aware there is no on-site parking available and public transport is advised, but with stations and bus stops a stone’s throw away you have plenty of choice.
